« DUKE ELLINGTON PIANISTE »

Laurent Courthaliac est un pianiste, arrangeur et producteur très actif sur la scène du jazz. Il a étudié avec du pianiste américain Barry Harris pendant une décennie, avant de se consacrer à l’œuvre de Duke Ellington pendant plusieurs années. Il vient d’ailleurs de lui consacrer un long article dans Jazz Magazine (cf lien).
Laurent rend régulièrement hommage à la musique d’Ellington dont il a approfondi l’étude du jeu pianistique, l’harmonie et le répertoire au Sunside Jazz Club où il est pianiste résident. Il est aussi à l’affiche du Bal Blomet le 11 décembre 2025 pour un concert consacré la musique du Duke.
Lors de cette conférence, Laurent s’intéressera aux disques de Duke Ellington en petite formation parmi lesquels figurent les éternels Money Jungle et Piano Reflections. Piano à l’appui, il prêtera une attention toute particulière au jeu de piano du maestro.

Laurent Courthaliac is a pianist, arranger and producer very active on the jazz scene. He studied with the American pianist Barry Harris for a decade, before devoting himself to the work of Duke Ellington for several years. He has just dedicated a long article to him in Jazz Magazine (see link)
Laurent regularly pays tribute to the music of Ellington, whose piano playing, harmony and repertoire he has studied in depth at the Sunside Jazz Club where he is pianist-in-residence. He is also on the bill at the Bal Blomet on December 11, 2025 for a concert dedicated to the music of the Duke.
During this conference, Laurent will focus on the records of Duke Ellington in small formation among which are the eternal Money Jungle and Piano Reflections. Piano in support, he will pay particular attention to the maestro’s piano playing.
